These superfoods can make you sick

maxresdefaultSuperfoods are the fashion of recent years: they are foods with particular properties, generally very nutritious, which, precisely because of the benefits they bring to our body, are that something extra to our traditional diet. Some of these are expensive, but some more or less we have all made the economic effort to try them at least once or more to enjoy the benefits. Which, however, could be much more limited than those we had hypothesized : and which, indeed, could even do us more harm than good, or do us well exactly like the plate of pasta we gave up. An investigation by the Daily Mail has in fact collected all the perplexities regarding the world of superfoods , and well, some of these would simply be avoided becausethey compromise digestion, cause intestinal swelling, weaken the bacterial flora, compromise the work of the thyroid gland and end up lowering the metabolism.

SUPERFOODS: THOSE TO DEFINITELY AVOID
1) Quinoa
(pronounced Kin-wah or Kinuà, not Kinoa or Cuinoa): it is a pseudocereal, halfway between a seed and a cereal, considered a superfood for its high value protein, to which is added the lack of gluten that made it famous among gluten free supporters. There are 4 great reasons to eat less, however: 1) it is not an eco-sustainable food: the quinoa we buy is imported from countries such as Peru or Bolivia that used it as poor food: its success has made it inaccessible to the inhabitants of these countries and on the other hand it has created the exploitation of people involved in crops. 2) The price is never competitive, quinoa also costs twice as much as rice 3) Being a seed, it is loaded with saponins and other antinutrients. People who avoid cereals or legumes for the fear of saponins certainly worsen their diet by binging on seeds of all kinds, which they also have: if you really love quinoa, soak it for 8/10 hours and let it sprout (sprouts from alone in water), then rinse it well and cook it in a drizzle of water for a few minutes. 4) Quinoa causes bloating,
2) The black cabbage: you obviously already know that cabbage, broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower are always consumed and only cooked, right? Raw, all cruciferous plants have antinutrients that counteract the functionality of the thyroid. For our metabolism they are lethargic, so avoid detox juices with green cabbage (better spinach) and eat crucifers in winter, when it’s their season, and cooked, to destroy the antinutrients.
3) Goji berries: they are to be avoided if you suffer from arthritis, they cause bloating and constipation for everyone else. They can create allergies on the skin and are contraindicated for people with diabetes. Fresh red fruits, such as blueberries or currants, are better.
4) Chia seeds: for heaven’s sake, a little chia seeds won’t hurt you, but don’t eat them habitually: chia seeds have a viscous fiber content higher than many other foods, and these create a jelly that can trap gas in our intestines. The result is bloating and constipation. They are therefore to be avoided if we suffer from irritable colon, They have a high content of plant antinutrients: better to consume them in small doses. Plus, they cost.
