The Victorian diet

The Victorian diet

It is called “mid-Victorian diet” and it would be the diet of the Victorian era at the turn of 1850 and 1872 : a diet that according to the British would have been much healthier than today’s traditional diets, allowing women and men to live over 70 years in shape, with no calorie restrictions and with better health than their successors, namely us. Do you want to lose weight? Try the Victorian Diet! This is what we read these days in the pages of English newspapers, which suggest abandoning the Paleo diet for a truly traditional and natural diet.
Contrary to what many believe that people used to eat less, the calories were higher:a woman consumed at least three thousand calories a day, men four thousand or more, with an average active lifestyle until old age

Here are some basic principles of the Victorian diet that can actually inspire us in this direction: I imagine that there are no nostalgics of the Victorian era among us, being Italians, but reading the characteristics of this diet I would recommend it to those who want some generic address on how to improve your diet. In fact, these are good healthy eating rules that are not only part of the English tradition. I’ll explain why on page two.
