The VB6 vegan diet

The VB6 vegan diet

The VB6 vegan diet is a very popular diet even though it is a half vegan diet, which we could define as flexi or flexitarian.

Designed by Mark Bittman , nutrition expert for the New York Times and author of books, the VB6 is so called because it has only one, very important, rule. Until six o’clock of vegan eating, where six obviously means six in the afternoon. In fact, Bittman lost about 25 kilos in one year with his VB6 diet.

THE VB6 VEGAN DIET TO STAY FIT AND HEALTHY

In summary, Bittman recommends two things to live long, fit and healthy.

  • The first, in fact, is to avoid products of animal origin until six in the afternoon.

Of course including milk, dairy products, honey and eggs. In short, a full-blown vegan diet for two thirds of the day. Bittman says that in this first part of the day you shouldn’t eat food of animal origin but neither industrial or refined products: no white bread and pizza, no white rice. Only cereals, legumes, fruit and vegetables. Nuts and oils should be used but in moderation, as well as potatoes. Sugar is banned.
Basically, until six in the afternoon there is a whole and natural vegan diet.

  • From six onwards you can eat whatever you want.

Including products of animal origin, fats, sugars, pasta. Bittman advises to keep to the choice not that is free but in the quantities, taking into account that with a vegan diet until six you did not go hungry but you ate anyway.

  • The second thing Bittman recommends is not to use industrial products, but only fresh products.

In short, the meat is fine but the slice is better than the ready-made hamburger and so on. Furthermore, Bittman asks to privilege quality over quantity. Do not eat too much, but little of everything, the important thing is that it is healthy.
