The Supershealth diet
The question is, did we need another diet book? The answer is probably: it depends on the book. And this book, the Supershealth Diet , written by Dr. Massimo Gualerzi and published by Sperling, in my humble way of seeing things is one of those books that proposes a method of healthy eating that is also a bit of a slogan, exactly like the other diets which he criticizes, and which has the big limitation, like many other similar books, of lending its side to the partial evidence fallacy, a mechanism known as cherry picking.
What does it mean? It means that the book relies on partial information or incomplete data to support a thesis.
Let’s first see what the book is about. The Supersalute Diet is a book that proposes the Supersalute or Cronobiodetox method to regain shape and health through nutrition. The method is based on chronobiology, and in particular on chrononutrition: is it possible to eat at certain times of the day, or eat particular foods in certain seasons, or even train at certain times, and sleep for hours to stay at the best of our physical health?
According to the author of the book, Massimo Gualerzi, cardiologist and expert in the prevention and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases, with a very respectable curriculum in the medical field, yes. The Supersalute method is based on chronobionutrition, which includes food phases in which “harmful to health” foods are eliminated over time, and periods of detoxification or detoxification. Let’s start with chronobionutrition: is it really reliable?
