The phenotype diet makes you lose more weight
A very interesting study based on the classification of obese people by phenotypes, that is, by behavior patterns that cause body weight gain for certain reasons, established that those who follow a diet of the phenotype lose much more weight than with a normal diet.
And it also loses it much more easily.
Basically, knowing your phenotype allows you to follow a personalized diet that leads to greater and faster weight loss.
The study, conducted by Professor Andres Acosta of the Mayo Clinic, on a sample of over 450 overweight and obese people, identified four phenotypes associated with extra pounds. These phenotypes are called “obesity phenotypes”.
THE PHENOTYPE DIET MAKES YOU LOSE MORE
The phenotypes identified by Dr. Acosta and colleagues as mentioned are four. From each phenotype derives a different eating behavior that causes the subject to be overweight. Unfortunately, the study also combined drugs and surgical procedures to make people with a particular phenotype lose weight.
But it is also possible to combine only dietary strategies as we will see, that is particular types of diet that prevent us from resorting to drugs or surgery. And natural supplements.
-
Hungry brain phenotype.
People who have this type of phenotype overeat because they cannot feel the sense of satiety. They therefore tend to overeat, always favoring quantity over quality.
-
From emotional hunger.
They are people with anxiety, depression or other emotional states that lead them to overeat in certain situations or to eat foods such as “comfort food” (biscuits, sweets, chocolate, pizza) to feel psychologically better.
-
Of the hungry intestine.
They are people who don’t get satisfaction from main meals, so they tend to snack too many during the day.
-
Metabolism-sparing phenotype.
They are people who tend to burn fewer calories than people with similar morphological characteristics (weight, height, gender).
WHICH DIET TO CHOOSE BASED ON YOUR PHENOTYPE
-
In the case of the starved brain phenotype, the researchers used anticonvulsant therapy or surgical procedures such as an intragastric balloon.
But a priori, given that we are talking about dangerous treatments and with many side effects at least if we consider anticonvulsants (Topiramate and others), the best diet could be Dr. Rolls’ volumetric, or the so-called Robot diet . This reduces the food variety to increase the sense of satiety.
And at the same time, instead of drugs, try natural anti-hunger natural supplements like these. -
For those suffering from emotional hunger, the researchers instead tried a weight loss diet combined with a psychotherapeutic path.
And the use of drugs such as Contrave, in Italian marketed under the name of Mysimba.
But if you want to try a specific diet for this phenotype instead, you can try the intuitive diet , which is not a true weight loss diet but is based on rules of behavior.
And it could be associated, in agreement with the doctor, the dry extract of saffron , which works as a slimming in people with anxious states that cause hunger. -
In the case of starving gut, the researchers focused on liraglutide (Orlistat) or gastric bypass.
But it has long been seen that a low-fat diet such as the Pritikin diet or the Mc Dougall diet works very well for this type of phenotype.
-
Finally, for the saver metabolism, the researchers focused on Orlistat or some types of drugs that are banned in Italy, with anti-hunger action.
A supplement that stimulates the metabolism if you suffer from this problem could instead be Lipoxan . But it is important to associate physical activity with diet for this phenotype. So a diet combined with physical activity such as the sedentary gymnastics diet or the Syndrome X diet could work very well.
In general, although the researchers have used medications, they should only be prescribed by the doctor, and it is important that the doctor is also promptly informed of the use of supplements or changes in their meal plan.
