The Oxy Elite Pro supplement and cases of hepatitis
The Oxy Elite Pro dietary supplement could cause severe liver ailments, including hepatitis. The alarm had already been raised in recent years, but in the meantime the cases would have increased, thanks to the web.
In 2013 alone in Hawaii there were a hundred cases of non-viral hepatitis found in consumers of Oxy elite Pro. It is a very popular fat burner among bodybuilders, which however contains ingredients that cause liver intoxication, including DMAA.
In the United States alone in the same year there were 29 victims, including one deceased.
Of the hundred cases recorded in Hawaii, half were hospitalized, three were listed for a liver transplant, and one died earlier.
This is what dr. Pieter Cohen, assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
The doctor points the finger at an experimental phase of the supplement made according to questionable criteria, at the basis of the so-called “quality and safety controls” of many other dietary supplements. Products that could poison consumers although they are still on the market.
The accusations against the Oxy elite Pro are therefore very serious. A first formula of this product was in fact withdrawn before 2013 due to the DMAA. A second formula, without Aegeline, another compound that was found to be harmful, came out only to be withdrawn soon after.
In fact, this fat burner has not been available for sale in Italy for years, but unfortunately the controls can be circumvented because it can be found online. It continues to arrive in Europe thanks to some countries, including Holland, which bypass customs controls. This despite the fact that in America it has been banned from marketing for several years.
Even more disturbing would be the accusations made against the controls of the Food and Drug Administration, guilty of failing to monitor the market for supplements, which is increasingly wild.
