The healthy diet of dr. Filippo Ongaro
Today I am talking about Dr. Filippo Ongaro, former astronaut doctor and author of books such as “Eat that you lose weight”, certified as an “anti-aging doctor”, or an expert in those dynamics that lead people to age and lose their physical shape over the years ; this experience of him derives precisely from having worked with astronauts, people who for their work are subjected to much higher risks of aging than normal people.
Through a method that Dr. Ongaro has called ” Potential Nutrition “, he has identified what are the causes of overweight and what are the false myths around it; how to correct the tendency to gain weight by reversing certain processes through nutrition and a better lifestyle in general.
On Potential Nutrition (similar in concept at least at first glance to Functional Nutrition), Dr. Ongaro organizes a course that you can register for here and offers webinars (short-term online seminars to which you can intervene by sending questions via chat) free to teach people how to move towards a healthy lifestyle and reverse the tendency to gain weight and see their health deteriorate from year to year. I would like to try to summarize the key points of his healthy and anti-aging diet, then giving you the opportunity for those who want to find information.
First of all, Dr. Ongaro does not believe in the motto ” eat less and move more ” to lose weight: on the contrary, he emphasizes how a better choice of carbohydrate sources, a moderation in their consumption, and the preference of proteins at every meal, also abounding of vegetables, is the fulcrum of a healthy and nutritious diet, rather than low-calorie and mortifying. On moving more, Ongaro identifies (and here I agree) the right activities that lead people to transform themselves in body composition, or to put on the right muscles (weights, equipment room, intensity exercises), while advising against the use to practices such as cardio, stressful and counterproductive for those who want a healthy metabolism and a lean physique.
At the basis of Dr. Ongaro’s healthy diet, there is the distinction between potentiating foods and de-potentiating foods. The potentiating foods are friends of the metabolism, the de-potentiating ones are instead to be strongly limited (therefore they are at the top of the pyramid)
