The genetic or genedieta diet
When I hear about the genetic diet , genedieta and other diets based on a DNA study come to mind . Typically this involves buying an expensive kit, with results that then come home along with dietary advice.
The genetic diet, or a personalized diet based on a DNA test that is obtained with the kit, should not be confused with nutrigenomics. We always talk about interactions between genes / genetics, then DNA, and nutrition / diet, but there are huge differences.
GENETIC DIET
In the first case we are talking about a diet that should be customized according to our DNA by a team of doctors who have the sole objective of getting us back in shape for the summer, starting from the theory that, since none of us have the same DNA, it would be logical to think that we have different nutritional needs and that, for example, we lose weight differently.
NUTRIGENOMICS
It is a discipline that studies how nutrition can modify certain genetic mechanisms. For example, when we read that a full-fat diet can cause us to age prematurely, it means that that diet affects our aging process. When we hear that some diets shorten telomeres, we are always talking about nutrigenomics.
But let’s go back to the first case, that of the genetic diet.
