The best diet to lose weight? The whole food diet
We are the cradle of the Mediterranean diet , yet we Italians are not champions even at the food and dietary level, and we always arrive too late, compared to the research carried out by Australia, Northern Europe, the United States and England (two of these countries have a of worrying obesity: it is no coincidence), to updates on nutrition and health. We are habitual: thank goodness we still live on the increasingly partial inheritance of grandmother’s good advice in terms of diet. Fruits, vegetables, simple foods, healthy lifestyle (of course, it all depends on where your grandmother lived, but we understand each other). Unfortunately, however, the industry has also done enormous damage to our diet:and while the rest of the West begins to shift the emphasis on “intestinal health” and on the importance of whole foods, in Italy they are still trying to defend the leadership of pasta makers. Of strictly white pasta, because we are still very little pasta makers on wholemeal. Even the glocal, local, and zero kilometer discourse are still slogans in the Bel Paese: thus, remarkable products disappear from the table, such as breads and products derived from ancient grains, top quality oils, while people rush to buy miracle noodles. So, treasure these three words: WHOLE FOOD DIET . And be optimistic: maybe in a year we will talk about it too, in the sense that the newspapers will deal with it, and some dietician will talk about it in a book, whileabroad WHOLE FOOD DIET is an accredited reality that has been present for a long time . What is it about? But the best diet to lose weight according to the opinion of most experts from beyond the Alps.
A diet that does not compete with the Mediterranean diet, but would mark a return to origins.
According to The Annual Review of Public Health , the Whole Food Diet is the best diet for losing weight and gaining health. You think you can go back to a non-modern diet: you would go shopping for fruit and vegetables, nuts and whole grains from the greengrocer, you would buy eggs and poultry from the farmer, and fish at the market. Stop. Probably the beekeeper would give you honey for your cakes. In short: everything we imagine as a healthy lifestyle, in which there are no labels and packaging to attract us. Sure, the food industries would fail, but we would all be skinny and in better health.
