The official testimonial of OnePlus in India, Amitabh Bachchan , unwittingly became the protagonist of a media gaffe that involved some of the major mobile phone brands. Bachchan apparently prefers to buy mobile phones from other brands than the one he promotes in numerous YouTube spots. The case broke out on Twitter, where the Indian actor complained of a malfunction of his Samsung Galaxy S9 .Â
Obviously the offending tweet aroused immediate reactions from the web. Twitter users immediately highlighted the inconsistency between Bachchan ‘s sponsored brand and the product he purchased. The most surprising answer, however, comes from a third big in mobile telephony, Xiaom i. Manu Kumar Jain , Xiaomi’s global vice president , proposed to remedy the gaffe by purchasing a top-of-the-range mobile phone from the company he represented. For now, the story has not had serious legal implications, but it is certainly a somewhat embarrassing situation for OnePlus and the other brands involved.
