Synthetic meat: the new food of the future?

After Soylent (Joylent for Europe), an artificial drink that has obtained food recognition and which contains all the macro and micronutrients to meet a man’s daily nutritional needs, we are back to talking about another food ” laboratory “, this time a little more special: synthetic meat .

Synthetic meat , which would be produced from fetal calf serum (the only originally animal part) or from another cell sample, was first presented in 2013 in the form of burgers.

At the moment, the costs for the development of the technology are so high that it is thought that it is impossible for synthetic meat to arrive on the market , despite having already been approved by the FDA, and, although the production process is potentially unlimited, that is, they can only be produced by a few . stem cells tons and tons of meat : without killing animals, without intensive farming, but with the same nutritional value as normal meat.

And from 2013 there has been no mention of it or almost until 2017 : the American company Memphis Meats would in fact have developed a meat that is a cross between chicken and duck, with the idea of producing “clean” poultry meat ( in the picture you can see their duck with orange). Doubts about the production of synthetic meat and its market costs could be mowed away by American start-ups, which are pushing for this in vitro meat to arrive on the tables of consumers around the world within the next five years.
