Stretching for the neck

The cervical , being the part of the vertebral column that connects the head to the rest of the body, is essential for balance and control of every movement . In addition to this, the functioning of the cervical spine affects the data transfusion that occurs between the brain and the various vital organs through the central nervous system, located throughout the spinal column.

For the vertebrae and intervertebral discs to be in the correct position, all muscles need to have the right tension . If they are too tight due to stress or if they are too weak from little physical activity, the vertebrae are less stable, so in both cases the signals do not pass smoothly. It must therefore be a structure that is stretched at the right point and at the same time elastic .

Let’s see how we can perform exercises to best restore our cervical.

Exercises for the cervical

When dealing with such a complex and delicate structure, one must be concentrated and delicate in taking care of it . Despite its flexibility, during strength exercises it is best to move slowly and use extra caution when practicing stretching .

One of the simplest and safest stretching practices that can be done on the neck is tilting the head in different directions (forward, back, right side and left side) starting each stretch always starting from the center.

To this can be added a slight inclination or swing of the chin to the right and left to create a twist at each muscle extension.

Complex stretching for the neck

If, on the other hand, you want to experiment with a more complex stretching , you have to let your head go in the directions in which you feel the most weight, and from there let yourself go very slowly in the different directions. A simple technique to say but difficult to do, as a technique can only be practiced with a lot of attention and control of every slightest movement.

During the different stretches you have to listen to every little tension . Each change of position must be done slowly, in this way you have time to understand the most contracted points. To carry it out in absolute caution, you must avoid all those positions that cause pain , therefore work only on the points where you have a feeling of relief and pleasure in ironing and mobilizing.

During these practices we often feel more needy points than others, in those cases the rule of Listening to your body to support it is always valid , therefore dedicating more time and attention where our body requires it.
