Seven ways to improve digestion
Better digestion is the thing to aim for if we want to lose weight and stay lean forever – people who digest faster and smoother digestion also have better metabolisms and are unlikely to gain weight. It is no coincidence: I have written many articles on the intestinal diet, the microbiota and good bacteria. The intestines of thin people have a healthier bacterial flora made up of colonies of good bacteria. On the other hand, many obese people, with overweight and swollen bellies, have impaired digestion precisely by bad bacteria. If we want to lose weight it is necessary that our body “throw out the garbage”: we must make sure to digest faster, eliminate constipation, promote diuresis and reduce abdominal swelling. How?
Here are seven ways to improve digestion from the Weston A. Price Foundation websiteÂ
2) Don’t blow your stomach : you need to be full, but not full. It is important to leave the table satisfied, but without the button tightening.
3) Eat enzyme-rich foods:raw milk, quality fresh and aged cheeses, bananas, raw honey for sweetening, some exotic fruits such as pineapple and papaya, and fermented vegetables (if you find them) are foods that help the proliferation of good bacteria.
4) Chew slowly:Â you will train yourself to feel satiety first and digest much better, reducing the swollen belly.
5) Relax: do not eat in a hurry and do not allow anyone or anything to reduce your break to eat. Your health is at stake. In general, try to reduce stress during the day.
6) Do not drink (almost nothing) while eating:Half a glass of wine is fine, but drinking at the table dilutes gastric juices and slows digestion. Also avoid too many liquid foods: soups, minestrone, smoothies, watery stuff.
7) Use apple cider vinegar. a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar is useful for digestion, drunk in a finger of water or ingested shortly before meals. Digestion must take place in an acidic environment, and apple cider vinegar enhances it.
