Saxenda, the new weight loss drug
It’s called Saxenda , and it’s the new weight loss drug on the market from this year in the United States and soon in Europe: the new slimming cure has already had FDA approval and is produced by  Novo Nordisk , a Danish pharmaceutical company that already had marketed the drug Victoza for the treatment of type two diabetes. Like Victoza , Saxenda consists not of a pill, but a once-daily injectable vial of 3mg liraglutide, which in one year promises five percent weight reduction by acting on appetite control: this means that in a patient who weighs one hundred kilos, the drug alone will make him lose five kilos a year. The drug is based on liraglutide, which is an incretinomimetic and more specifically an analogue of human GLP-1, but alone it obtains poor results if it is not associated with a low-calorie diet and physical activity. You may wonder what the difference is with Victoza : well, in Saxenda the percentage of liraglutide is higher, which makes it more effective, useful in the treatment of overweight and not only specifically of type 2 diabetes, but with this dosage it is not it can be combined with other drugs.
Compared to the diet pills now on the market, Saxenda is injected, and is more effective on appetite control.
However, not everyone can take Saxenda: you have to prove that you have suffered from metabolic syndrome for at least a year, that is, you have to be suffering from obesity, hypertension and / or diabetes, and show that you are also cooperative and patient. In fact, the drug begins to act at optimal levels after a few weeks and not immediately.
However, the test results were encouraging, and found effective weight loss in those who tried the drug. Could it be true?
For the moment all that remains is to wait for the trade in Italy.
