Risk of premature birth and diet
Premature birth, which causes 75% of neonatal deaths, may be a less concrete risk for pregnant women who go through pregnancy with a healthier diet, according to a Swedish researcher from the University of Gothenburg .
Which, surprisingly, is not only the Mediterranean one.
Indeed, according to the ” Norwegian Mother and Child Cohort Study” , women who ate more fruit and vegetables, cereals (including pasta), potatoes, legumes and fish, especially in the first 5 months of pregnancy, were less at risk of premature birth. .
In particular, the risk of premature birth was lower in mothers who followed these guidelines.
- Fish in more than two portions per week
- Fruits and vegetables in more than 5 portions per day
- Use of olive oil
- Red meat less than twice a week
Instead, the risk of premature birth was higher in those who not only did not observe these rules, but often consumed snacks and unhealthy products that did not provide particular nutrients.
A healthy and moderate diet, with particular emphasis on daily doses of fruit and vegetables, would promote the well-being of the pregnant mother and her fetus, thus reducing the risks of premature birth.
But what are the other dietary guidelines that a future mother must follow in order not to make a mistake at the table?
