Rhinoplasty: costs and procedures

rinoRhinoplasty, together with breast interventions, is one of the most requested surgical operations in the aesthetic field (despite the news that the request for nose surgery is now in sharp decline from the United States ). On the one hand, in fact, the nose is the center of our face, and therefore affects the beauty and harmony of the features, as well as the profile. On the other hand, the less invasiveness of the interventions, in some cases even without the aid of the scalpel, it has lowered the costs of rhinoplasty and made the surgery more feasible for many. Now, even as a young man (but always after sixteen, seventeen years) the plastic surgeon is used to have the nose done again, and while once the nose surgery operation was considered more serious and invasive , it has now become multifaceted and differentiated into in such a way as to constitute a separate transaction on a case-by-case basis . In fact, we speak of rhinoseptoplasty, septoplasty, primary rhinoplasty, secondary rhinoplasty, with internal or external technique depending on the patient’s defect. Many patients undergo a first (primary) rhinoplasty and then one or two subsequent (secondary) touch-ups . Separate discussion for fillers, which move the field from nose surgery to aesthetics: they are substances that fill a part of the septum, to remedy the hump defect, but which obviously can aesthetically compensate for a very limited number of aesthetic defects, and cannot reduce the nose in any way . So let’s see what has changed in the field of nose surgery, starting with the procedures and then talking about the costs of rhinoplasty. The actual rhinoplasty, the primary one, takes into account the intervention on two areas of the patient’s nose: wanting to divide the nose horizontally, the upper part is the bony one, the lower one, which makes up the tip of the nose and the nostrils, is cartilage . Normally the latter is the most difficult part to operate, and often it is the tip of the nose, which must also be harmonious with the width of the nostrils, that requires the skill of the surgeon. The operation is generally reductive , but it may be necessary to add cartilage taken from other areas (the ears, for example) to add cartilage in order to make the lower part of the nose more harmonious. There are also nice differences on anesthesia. It can be total and require hospitalization for one day, or deep sedation with local anesthesia, in day-hospital mode. In general, the surgery lasts from one to two hours, and both anesthesia and post-operative medications make it painless. Another thing is the postoperative, a bit annoying for the patient: while the bruises disappear in a few days, a maximum of ten, the swelling can last months, and an optimal result will be visible after six months / a year. Now let’s see the costs of rhinoplasty : even here, the costs are “dancers”, they vary by a few thousand euros also based on the choice of the surgeon. It therefore ranges from 4 thousand to 10 thousand euros depending on the specialist.
