People are dieting less and less, but …
Some time ago, considering the opinion of some experts who correlated the continuous diets of people with overweight , I concluded that, even if it seemed a paradox, the more you were on a diet the more you tended to gain weight. This undoubtedly has a grain of truth if you think that those on a continuous low-calorie diet do nothing but stress and lower the metabolism, with the consequence of gaining weight rather than losing it in the long term, or falling victim to various eating disorders. Furthermore, the type of diet we choose is also predictive of our success / failurein the dietary field: if I want to lose weight quickly and I want to lose weight immediately, whatever the cost, what interests me is that the number on the scale goes down to the detriment of health and therefore any crash diet is fine. However, this leads to gaining weight with interests, and therefore, in the end, to being fatter.
But, a Chinese study, carried out on a sample of about 28 thousand people , says exactly the opposite .
People are no longer on diets of the past few decades, but less. And they are probably fatter for that reason.
The reasons why, in reality, nutrition is less controlled and therefore there is less tendency to lose weight for experts can be many: on the one hand, greater social acceptance of overweight people (body acceptance / body confidence) which, however, could also be a consequence of the fact that overweight people increase, therefore it should be understood whether the chicken or the egg comes first; on the other hand, the fact that overweight people have often tried weight loss methods in the past that have not worked , making them more giving up later on.
If these reasons / hypotheses seem weak to me, the third seems to me the most coherent: the national health system (or rather, the plural: health in the various countries …) is taking less and less responsibility for preventing obesity, leaving the people who have to lose weight, prey to more or less valid programs and misinformation, but above all leaving the choice of the private professional to them. Except then prescribe drugs for diseases related to obesity …
