Orange egg white cake: the zero-fat cake
Today I propose a recipe that I am often making and that I eat for breakfast: the orange egg white cake, a recipe that I found here in its original version, and which compared to this I often make in the version with orange or lemon instead of liquor. In this version, lacking the liqueur, the calories for one serving (about one eighth of the cake) are 125 per slice. In fact, if you eat it all, the egg white cake has only a thousand calories!
In fact, this cake has zero fat.
In fact, to be precise, it only has one and a half grams of fat for the whole cake! In fact, this particular recipe does not include butter or oil. If desired, it can be personalized with bitter cocoa, removing about twenty grams of flour and adding about thirty grams of cocoa (the calories are few more, about 5 per slice).
Here is the basic recipe for egg white cake.
240 grams of egg whites (eight medium egg whites)
a sachet of cream of tartar
100 gr of flour
130 gr of sugar
baking powder half a sachet
grated orange or lemon zest (one teaspoon) a pinch of vanillin
salt 2 tablespoons of orange juice or lemo
Method.
Beat the egg whites with 80 g of sugar and the cream of tartar, the vanilla.
Sift the flour and mix it with the baking powder, 50 grams of sugar and the selected citrus peel.
Incorporate the flour into the egg white mixture a little at a time.
Pour the mixture into an 18 cm non-stick aluminum pan and put in the oven at 170 ° for about forty minutes, doing the toothpick test.
And here are the nutritional values for one slice (one eighth of the cake)
Kcal per slice: 125 calories.
