Many companies try to position themselves better in the low-end market as far as it concerns, and while the price goes up, the competition tends to go down, even if there are still several offers to be considered for all budgets. OPPO , with its enormous growth over the years, is a brand that specifically takes care of products that increase in quality compared to the base, but that do not touch the highest peaks of phones, thus obviously presenting itself with compromises. An example is the OPPO A94 5G , a smartphone that we have had the opportunity to try for some time, and of which we want to talk to you today in depth in this review.

Design and functionality 

Proceeding with the unboxing of the OPPO A94 5G (you can buy it from this link ) we are talking about in this review of the device, you immediately realize how fortunately nothing is missing, and you can immediately launch in use after a device setup. Specifically, outside the device we find a transparent protective cover , which allows you to see the excellent colors chosen by the company for the device in question, and a charger. Taking the product in hand you realize how you are dealing with quality materials, even if the back is made of hard plastic, and which above all does not have excessive weight, and is consequently comfortable to use. The dimensions of 160.1 × 73.4 × 7.8 mm lead the device to weigh only 173 grams , undoubtedly a good result.

We find a Type-C port and a headphone jack, with speakers placed at the bottom. The trolley allows you to insert even 2 SIMs and a Micro SD , while the flat glass hides the fingerprint detector inside, placed as usual in the center in the lower part. The selfie camera, not excellent but still excellent, hides in a small punch-hole placed to the left of the top, a rather elegant design choice and not at all invasive.

The display is a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED with 2400 × 1800 resolution and 20: 9 aspect ratio . The brightness is truly amazing, and it is easy to consult the information in almost any situation, with excellent quality thanks to the panel that the company has chosen for its little gem. Unfortunately, the refresh rate is only 60 Hz , a basic threshold that is exceeded by other products that compete in the same price range, but it must be specified that the manufacturer has focused on something else.

Performance and competition

As far as performance is concerned, there is very little to complain about, and in this specific area the OPPO A94 5G subject of this review has almost no rivals in the same price range. Any game and application can run smoothly, without lag phenomena or multiple operations putting the SoC MediaTek 5G Dimensity 800U in difficulty, which features an ARM G57 MC3 video card for an excellent gaming result, achieved by the company and also accompanied from several dedicated features for enthusiasts. As the name of the device and chipset suggests, there is no lack of 5G support.

As for the cameras on the back we find a module protected by super resistant glass, with a total of 4 sensors. We are talking about a 48 MP + 8 MP ultra wide angle + 2 MP Macro + 2 MP monochrome , which in almost all situations manages to provide an excellent result for what concerns the photos. Although there are no issues to highlight, unfortunately the videos are blocked at the maximum resolution of 4K at 30 FPS, and it is not possible to go up to 60 frames per second for a better result.

Speaking of the battery, we are dealing with a 4.310mAh device , which allows use – at least in the first phase of the product’s life cycle – able to last two days, with really many hours in which the screen can be turned on. While there is no shortage of features such as the always on display, there are also several possible optimizations to be considered to optimize the result, given that the company has decided to pay particular attention to this field, despite not having inserted an extremely large battery. In less than 50 minutes the device can be fully charged , and thanks to the 30 W support, it takes just a few minutes to immediately obtain several hours of autonomy, a useful detail for possible emergency situations.
