A hot summer is preparing for WhatsApp . The messaging application continues its evolution and prepares to introduce many new features . In the foreground there is the possibility of sharing music, but Whatsapp should also give its users giant emoticons, an answering service, quotes and public groups. Let’s examine all the news in detail.

The first big news of WhatsApp is the sharing of music , a function that would complement the already existing possibility of sending other types of multimedia files such as photos, videos and audio notes. Sending music on WhatsApp will take place in two ways: you can send either the music on your phone or thanks to the integration with Apple Music (for iPhone owners).

The second change concerns public groups and mentions.

These features are already included in other messaging applications, such as Telegram . We currently need to have a person’s phone number to add them to a group. With this new update it will be possible to create a public group to which all those who receive the invitation to participate can join.

The group administrator can set a limit on the number of members who can join, but there are no other restrictions. Just get the link and you can join the group.

Regarding the mentions , however, in its latest update WhatsApp has included the possibility of quoting a message . The next news that WhatsApp will add should instead concern the possibility of mentioning a particular member of the group , as happens for example on Facebook, even if we do not know if the mention will be made by writing an @ followed by the name of the person you want to mention, or if we will use it with a different method.

Latest news: the giant emoticons

Finally, WhatsApp aims to add the ability to send emoticons much larger than those we are used to . In theory, they could be the same emoticons we use now (if you want to know what they are, here you will find the complete emoticon vocabulary), or new ones dedicated to this new dimension.

This feature has attracted attention among the innovations presented by Apple iMessage and it cannot be excluded that among the WhatsApp plans there is also the intention to include the possibility of sending Facebook-style stickers .

With these new features, WhatsApp will try to keep up this summer 2016 compared to other messaging services. The application still has the advantage of being the most used among users, but this privilege is not maintained if you are not able to evolve. And WhatsApp knows how to do it well. Whatsapp is expected to start in the coming weeks with new updates.
