Natural Diet: Dr. Barbara EV Gigante’s diet
We’ve been talking about it for two or three years: the Natural Diet . diet developed by Dr. Barbara Esposito Vulgo Gigante , is a diet that promises rapid weight loss in a short time (up to 10 kilos in a month), but about which it is difficult to find information on the net, just as there is no detailed information on the diet itself on the official site.
After days of searching and gathering information, here is my article on Natural Diet .
NATURAL DIET: WHAT YOU KNOW
1) The Natural Diet is part of the ad libitum diets: those diets that are sponsored with phrases such as “you do not have to weigh foods or count calories”, “eat your fill”, and so on. What is the secret of these diets? Simple. Diets ad libitum (other examples: Dukan, Lemme, etc.), are diets that, especially in the first phase, strongly restrict one or more macronutrients. So you can eat your fill, but you can’t eat everything. The Natural Diet obviously has one or more restrictions, especially in the first phase. Which?
2) Fast weight loss = restriction of carbohydrates:the Natural Diet is presented as a hypoglucidic diet, which is set, according to the clients of the doctor and according to the same website of the doctor, on the needs of the client, including morphological ones. However, many speak of a total restriction of carbohydrates, and of a method similar to that of Dr. Lemme: no salt (only pink salt, which, however, I remind you, is iodine-free, so it is not really a friend of our thyroid) and no carbohydrates. , apart from vegetables and little or no fruit. Carbohydrates are gradually reintroduced in the later stages of the diet, but using a low-glucose diet is a known method of losing a lot of water. Furthermore, the risk is that of losing affinity with carbohydrate metabolism, and having health imbalances in the long term. In short, we know protein dietsand the Natural Diet is one of them , at least in the first phase. I’m not saying it’s high protein , because having no detailed information on how much protein is expected per pound of body weight, I can’t categorize it as such. Steps one and two remain. Hypoglucidic diet.
3) There is no specialization in rapid weight loss: we read this from the doctor’s website. Nutritionist biologist specialized in rapid weight loss. Clearly there is no specialization of this type, nor can the doctor guarantee you results: there are many testimonies in favor of the method, before and after photos and so on. And I won’t tell you anything new about this. But when we talk about these diets we cannot only take into account the positive cases : in fact many people complain of having little weight and having paid too much compared to what was obtained (read some interesting question and answer here). The fact is that a lot depends on your personal history: if you have already gone through a lot of protein diets, you will clearly get less results than those who ate a lot of carbohydrates before doing the Natural Diet.
4) The method is not specified, nor are there examples of diet: personally I always feel an absolute mistrust when the method is not even mentioned on the official website, which at least in general principles must be valid for everyone, especially if the diet is professes as an ad libitum diet (” you don’t need to weigh everything with calorie anxiety “). People must always be clear about what they are going through before calling the specialist: they must be able to get an exhaustive and autonomous idea of what they will face. Even the “personalized diet” argument does not seem valid to me for omitting the principles of the diet. My opinion, of course.
5) Lose weight without diet or sport: in reality the ad libitum diet is a diet like any other. You don’t calculate calories simply because you deprive yourself of critical foods. On the sport point : here too, we know how much activity preserves lean mass (which no, it can be preserved with the diet up to a certain point: a diet does NOT shape and does NOT increase lean mass in a “peculiar” way These things are scientifically incorrect) and therefore help us keep the metabolism high and active over time. Advertising a diet saying that you lose weight without doing sports or activities is contrary to current government guidelines , as well as at the base of the current food pyramid.there is movement / physical activity along with increased consumption of water, fruit and vegetables.
I therefore find that sponsoring a diet saying that you get results without physical activity risks being detrimental.
