Mediterranean diet, the best?
Five studies conducted by a group of Canadian scientists who compared the Mediterranean diet with other diets (a low-fat diet, a low-carbohydrate diet and the ADA diet, promoted by the American Diabetes Association ) have resulted in to establish that the Mediterranean diet is optimal in the long term as a weight loss diet (low calorie Mediterranean diet). And that makes you lose weight as much as the most popular diets, including low carb, but more than low fat.
To determine this, the researchers analyzed studies of different diets conducted on about a thousand obese patients over a period of more than or equal to a year.: To be exact, they compared five studies that met their search criteria (obese patients / study duration) and found the following
2) The Mediterranean diet causes you to lose about the same amount of weight as a low carbohydrate diet or an ADA (low sugar) diabetes weight loss diet.
3) According to the researchers, it is not possible to establish a share of macronutrients (percentages of carbohydrates, proteins and fats) ideal for losing weight.
4) Therefore, it is not possible to establish which is the ideal diet for losing weight.
5) Experts theorize on the basis of previous studies that more than a diet to lose weight, a scheme for losing weight is effective: a diet combined with the change of usual eating habits and behaviors and physical activity.
