Lose Weight With Fat: Dave Asprey’s Bulletproof Diet
Dave Asprey is yet another example of setting up a diet for others just because it worked on him and that’s enough. A supporter of a dietary method called Banting, which consists of eating fat to lose weight and keep insulin at bay instead of carbohydrates, Asprey is the inventor of the Bulletproof Diet.
According to him, this diet would lead to weight loss and promote the increase of intellectual abilities and productivity: a concept that he expressed in his book Super brain .
Dave Asprey is in fact a millionaire who deals with advanced technologies and who at one point found himself having to lose weight in order not to die, being suffering from severe obesity. Now he is slim and fit thanks to what he has learned from his travel experiences in cold countries, where people like the Inuit eat mostly fatty foods and zero carbohydrates.
His diet, on which he wrote several books, was called by him ” Bulletproof diet ” or in Italian Bulletproof Diet.
It is essentially a ketogenic diet but only natural.
The name derives from the invention of a recipe for a coffee called Bulletproof coffee , which has traveled the world.
But let’s go in order: what is the Bulletproof diet?
BULLETPROOF DIET: DAVE ASPREY’S KETOGENIC DIET
The bulletproof diet as mentioned in the introduction is a natural type ketogenic diet that is inspired by a protocol called the Banting diet. Basically, the diet includes a few meals a day, with a bulletproof coffee-based breakfast, a low-protein lunch such as meat, fish or eggs and vegetables but heavily seasoned with butter and coconut oil. A low carbohydrate dinner, for example a spoonful of plain basmati rice or half a sweet potato, vegetables with coconut oil and butter, and a protein dish always based on meat or fish.
For example salmon for lunch and steak with vegetables and butter at dinner. At most eggs. It is not a vegetarian diet as Dave excludes the consumption of legumes, soy products, dairy products and cheeses.
You don’t eat sugar, not even in the form of fruit. Asprey who by eating like this has not only lost all the excess pounds, but has even become smarter.
The point is: does it work?
BULLETPROOF DIET: DOES IT WORK?
According to Ohio State University researchers , if you eat a lot of fatty foods or fatty condiments but don’t eat carbohydrates, your body will use fat (lipolysis) to recover energy. For this you can eat fat without increasing cholesterol levels, for example. However, carbohydrates should not be eaten (more).
Recent research , however, which compared a high-fat diet with a low-fat but high-carbohydrate diet, found that people eat more calories in the former. By losing weight less than by eating pasta, rice or bread but by reducing fat to one or two teaspoons of olive oil a day.
Other doctors point to the absolute unreliability of the diet. Eating a high-fat diet means saying goodbye to carbohydrates forever: otherwise, when you go back to eating carbohydrates, your blood sugar would skyrocket.
So in essence the Bulletproof Diet is presented as a diet to be done for a lifetime.
You also lose a lot of weight, so Asprey is right about this, the ketogenic diet works in most people: but it doesn’t work any better than a normal weight loss diet. Initially, however, it has the advantage of making you lose more weight. Let’s see an example of a bulletproof diet.
BULLETPROOF FOOD PLAN
Breakfast.
Bulletproof coffee.
Blend a cup of coffee with 25 grams of organic butter or ghee and two tablespoons of coconut oil, plus stevia or a natural, zero-calorie sweetener such as erythrol or xyylitol. This will essentially be your breakfast.
You can add a teaspoon of hydrolyzed collagen powder to the coffee. Otherwise, today it is possible to use a preparation to be dissolved in water. Follow the link below.
Original Keto Coffee | Instant coffee with butter and MCT | Bulletproof coffee | 6x15g .
The benefit of this coffee is that it won’t make you feel hungry until lunch and beyond.
Additionally, Asprey argues that coffee is like intermittent fasting in the morning because it stimulates ketosis.
Snack and snack: none.
Lunch and dinner: they are very similar.
You simply have to consider a portion of protein from meat or fish or shellfish that, raw and without waste, occupies the palm of your hand. You can eat all types of meat except cold cuts and all types of fish. Alternatively, two eggs. As you can see, the diet is very simple. In addition, low-starchy vegetables to choose from among zucchini, broccoli, cabbage, rocket, spinach and all green leafy vegetables, mushrooms, fennel, aubergines, peppers, salads.
At mealtimes you should consider adding at least two tablespoons full of coconut oil or butter or half coconut oil and half olive oil as a condiment.
You can freely add: capers, olives, mustard, spices and aromatic herbs, vinegar and a little lemon juice.
Finally, you can add a slice or two of fresh avocado to your lunch. At dinner, on the other hand, a spoonful of white or wholemeal basmati rice or half a sweet potato (about 100 grams) are allowed.
At the end of the meal, you can add a couple of walnuts or 5 grams of very bitter dark chocolate.
As you can see, you don’t have to count calories.

In addition, Asprey recommends half an hour of physical activity a day and walking.
