Lose weight by eating according to instinct: it is the Instinctive Diet

76675-180x270-Roberts_SueThe principle on which the instinctive diet is based is simple and very fascinating, and personally I find myself there: in fact, our body has its own ” set point “, that is, its own balance point in weight to be lean and healthy. To achieve it, it is enough to lose weight by eating according to our instincts, and not by forcing the body to our will. It is nice to hear it, but it is difficult to reach this condition: I have already talked about it many times and I myself have experienced it successfully. If we try to eat according to our sense of hunger and drink according to our sense of thirst, losing weight will become a slow but gradual process, while the stress of food restrictions and extreme workouts could instead prevent us from losing weight after a first and initial weight loss. Susan Roberts, a nutritionist at Tufts University, is also convinced. She has thus written two books on the subject, inventing the method of the “instinctive diet” or ” the i diet ” and helping many people to lose weight by leveraging their sense of hunger, balanced meals and satisfying and tasty foods to lose weight.

INSTINCT DIET, HOW DOES IT WORK?
In her book, The Instinct Diet, Dr. Roberts breaks the program into stages. The first, lasting two weeks, involves the elimination of refined carbohydrates and alcohol, while green light for the rest. In the following, you can instead drink a glass of wine a day and eat French fries, or choose from various permitted “cheats”, such as chocolate. Above all, it aims at healthy eating: in the Instinct Diet you are asked to cook your own meals at home, buy natural foods and avoid industrial foods to help metabolism and hormones. Basically the diet relies on the instincts of food and not on the instinct of hunger:according to her, we must consider that we are looking for food out of hunger, because it is available, because we need nourishment and energy, and because we need a varied diet.
Despite being a diet, Roberts knows how to play it well : you eat when you are hungry, you eat satiating (many fiber-based) and satisfying foods, and there is a large cookbook that does not make you think of a simple diet. By not doing the deprivation, the instinctive diet is not stressful, and it has worked for many people who have never been able to lose weight otherwise. While taking advantage of the logic of “losing weight by eating normally”, this is a full-fledged diet: for those looking to lose weight without any diet, a perfect example is Dr. Schwarzbein’s diet., which I talked about here.
