Light drinks and risks for the heart
In the United States we continue to talk about the danger of light drinks, that is, all those drinks sweetened with artificial sweeteners and without calories, such as Coca-Cola Zero.
Now that we talk about the sugar tax, the increase in light drinks will be even greater than in previous years.
Yet there is no lack of studies that underline that light drinks are not safe for health.
Not only for body weight, but also for cardiovascular health risks.Â
In fact, it seems that according to a study by the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic , a massive consumption of light drinks causes an increased risk of cardiovascular disorders, especially in women who have passed the door.
Menopausal women who habitually use light drinks would have an increased risk of diabetes, heart attack, high blood pressure and other cardiovascular disorders.
As well as a greater risk of death from these same disorders.
Some research points to the “habitual” consumption of diet drinks.
And even if the risks for now are only a suspicion and the data in the possession of scholars has revealed a dangerous association between light drinks and cardiovascular health problems, for which doctors recommend caution.
In short, zero calorie sweetened drinks should not be consumed regularly, but only occasionally.
This is waiting for new studies to shed light on the long-term effect of light drinks.Â
