Laxatives for weight loss, why not

Laxatives for weight loss, why not

Have you ever thought about taking laxatives to lose weight? Don’t do it. Even if the temptation is strong.
Using laxatives to lose weight is one of the worst things you can do to your body. Laxatives as well as diuretics do not lose body fat, but free us of water, mineral salts and obviously waste.

Let’s start with the basic principles: when we want to lose weight, we don’t want to lose pounds and then get them back, right?
We want to get rid of the fat and make sure the problem doesn’t happen again.

So when we talk about losing weight, it is not to remain skin and flab, but to eliminate excess fat from our body. Every time you approach a diet you have to think: will I lose weight or will the balance tip go down for a while and then I will regain all the pounds and even a little more?

LAXATIVES FOR SLIMMING: BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT EFFECTIVE

This is for example the problem of the use of laxatives to lose weight: beyond the faeces, the laxative causes you to lose large quantities of water and mineral salts. What happen? We lose weight which is also due to the loss of water and which causes us to momentarily lose weight. It is true that the needle of the scale goes down, but the belly swells.

Furthermore, the colon tends to get used to the laxative effect, resulting in hypotonia. At that point, when we stop taking laxatives to lose weight, we see a contrary effect: dehydration creates a very strong water retention. And at the same time the hypotonic colon, unaccustomed to a natural peristalsis, no longer works properly, with the result of giving us more or less severe constipation. And consequent hardening of the stool and difficulty urinating. It will be difficult to return to intestinal regularity.

It will also be difficult to return to normal metabolism. The metabolic slowdown that follows the abuse of laxatives is a consequence of two factors.

  • The loss of minerals that my body must then be able to replenish.
  • The weakening of the bacterial intestinal flora, which mainly affects the good bacteria.

Once the laxative effect is over, the body, weakened, asks for and keeps more.

In fact, it is one thing to take laxatives in case of constipation or to take advantage of the “mechanical” laxative principles of fiber, fruit and vegetables . Another is to use laxatives to lose weight, when in fact the more you eat properly, the less you should need help with that. Intestinal well-being and a good balance of bacterial flora is the key not only to being healthy, but also slim and fit. Everything that corrupts this balance, from unbalanced diets to laxatives to lose weight, is a scam, a double deception, because the fat remains and the health is ruined.
