Juice Plus contraindications: here are the “against” opinions
When I wrote the article on the Juice Plus diet , I received some insults in private mail, as well as having raised a lot of criticism in the article post on facebook, in which the coaches who sold the Juice Plus products tried to dismantle my analysis saying that ultimately I didn’t understand anything . The same coaches that every now and then I have to ban from my own facebook page, because they comment on my articles talking about fabulous programs that with a healthy lifestyle and without suffering from hunger allow you to lose extra pounds and centimeters and so try to advertise yourself. detriment to the health of my readers. But for some time not only the only voice to be heard on the Juice Plus case, contraindications and aggressive campaigns included: nutritionists and dieticians are trying to warn people that the coaches who sell these products are not doctors or professionals in the sector, and many receive friend requests from the aforementioned coaches, or messages in the mail on social networks.
Recently, writer, journalist and host Selvaggia Lucarelli has done even more. Starting from the case of a woman who on a facebook post mocked the mothers of a school meeting , inviting them to use the Juice Plus brand slimming products so as not to let their husbands escape, a woman who later turned out to be a seller of the same company , Lucarelli wrote an article for Il Fatto Quotidiano , after having investigated the sales system of Juice Plus products.
A system that she defines as ” a pyramid marketing system that in theory would also be prohibited by law “. Juice Plus is “an American company that sells both protein-based meal replacements and multivitamins. Of course, at unmissable prices. And through network marketing. Seven jars of capsules (…) cost 319 euros, but there are also the usual vanilla chocolate shakes and soups “. Juice Plus vendors work from home, and in order to sell their products and motivate customers, they send private messages left and right, friend requests, and post photos with motivational phrases all the same but not only: there is even ” the girl who publishes the photos of her thirteen-year-old daughter in a thong to show how much she has lost weight “, writes Lucarelli.
Beyond the disturbing scenario of the sales network and company policies, Lucarelli’s article triggered another phenomenon, that of the breaking of a spiral of silence regarding Juice Plus products. And yes, because until recently long ago it was impossible to find genuine reviews on these products online. By genuine reviews, I don’t mean negative reviews, but reviews from customers and not from coaches or sellers. In short, real opinions.
A Facebook page currently active is called “ I used Juice Plus ” and collects comments from people who have experienced side effects using some of the company’s products. I list below some of the main problems encountered.
JUICE PLUS CONTRAINDICATIONS OF SOME PRODUCTS
The Booster: some people have experienced bloating and abdominal cramps. Some people report thyroid problems as a result of taking the product continuously. Contains green tea extract, glucomannan and caffeine. Green tea extract supplements have long been the focus of some investigations after liver poisoning cases. Especially in association with other nerve substances, such as caffeine (or guarana). I talked about it here.
The Premium:as I had already written about glucomannan in the past, glucomannan is a resistant starch (therefore a fiber) that not everyone tolerates in the intestine. In case of cramps and swelling, it is essential to stop taking the product. Some people in fact report constipation, cramps, colic, bloating from the use of the Premium, which contains glucomannan as the Booster.
JUICE PLUS CONTRAINDICATIONS FROM CALORIC RESTRICTION Substitute
meals, controlled diet on some foods: the Juice Plus diet works because using these meals and limiting foods for the rest of the day, the calories consumed are less than a thousand. So they are often below the basal metabolic rate of an adult woman . The result of such a restrictive diet is: drops in blood sugar, slowed metabolism, fainting, strong sense of hunger. And the tendency to gain weight after you go back to eating without the substitutions . A repentant customer did the calculation of the daily calories consumed in a day of replacement meals: 800 calories.
JUICE PLUS CONTRAINDICATIONS: THE INEXPERIENCE OF SELLERS
The last contraindication is not only of a practical nature, but also and above all of health. Juice Plus sellers, as seen in the company’s own information booklet, now made public, use responses suggested by the same company. When faced with delicate and health questions, they still propose the products, saying that they are suitable and without side effects. Many of these coaches are not nutritionists, they may have no idea of the side effects of what they are selling, nor have they any idea what a healthy diet or weight loss means. Of course, the choice of whether or not to use this weight loss program is up to you. In this article I just wanted to highlight that:
– Beyond the sales and marketing system, there are contraindications to the use of Juice Plus products , and to the use of a restrictive food program from a caloric point of view.
– there are people who have not lost weight, who have had health problems, especially intestinal problems , and there are testimonies about it.
– an investigation by the program Patti Chiarihighlights how weight loss programs are also offered to people of normal weight or underweight, and even to pregnant women. Taking into account that coaches are salespeople but not food professionals, real expertise cannot be expected, and people with health problems should not rely on people who have no skills. I remind you that obesity is also a health problem, and not simply something that can be solved with any diet.
