Is it possible to stimulate and correct my daughter’s flat foot by avoiding surgery?

Hello, I am contacting you about the flat feet problem of my 9 year old girl. Is it possible to stimulate and correct the completely flat plantar arch muscle, in order to avoid surgery? From the very first steps, the little girl highlighted both feetdishes. The pediatrician, and later the orthopedist I turned to, advised him to do gymnastics saying that this would improve his arch. I must add that the little girl has her against the fact that she is a little overweight, but she has been following a targeted diet for about 4 years. Despite doing gymnastics, the problem with her feet never got better, in fact she complained of pain. For this reason, in August 2013, I requested another orthopedic visit where the doctor prescribed me to do an x-ray of the patient. Result: bilateral flat foot, the doctor after consulting the x-ray of the feet, concluded by saying that the child is to be operated on because a flat foot at this stage cannot be corrected otherwise. I would like to know if an alternative route can be attempted before surgery. Thank you so much for your attention and look forward to your response. Kind regards.

Hello, There is a very simple exercise to help the arch of your daughter’s feet correct itself. Keeping the other fingers still, lift your big toes and release them several times for 10-20 minutes a day. How is your baby’s mouth? Do you have a tendency to have a pronounced jaw? My advice is to have her examined by a posturologist, I would avoid surgery if it were my daughter. Have a good evening.
