Is coca cola bad for you? 4 ways to avoid it
Is cola cola bad? That coca cola and other fizzy drinks are not really good for our health now seems a known fact: some time ago on The Renegade Pharmacist website all the effects of traditional and sugar-free Coca cola appeared on our body within an hour of its intake; devastating effects ranging from tooth corrosion to increased thirst to the tendency to gain weight due to the insulin spike.
And indeed, coke as well as other soft drinks containing gas, sugars or sweeteners, additives or dyes, caffeine and other stimulants do not do well: they seem in the crosshairs of doctors who find them responsible for increasing the risk of metabolic syndrome in consumers, or the tendency to develop obesity-related diseases, such as diabetes . Obviously, if we consume a coke every now and then there is no problem : the trouble is to develop an addiction to a drink that is not quite natural. The same goes for other fizzy drinks: from chinotto to sprite, up to fizzy and sweetened drinks.
So, it’s okay if we drink one every now and then, but if we drink them every day, here’s how to quit in 4 steps:
1) If you’re craving something to hold you up, try some coffee or iced tea: the effect is similar. At home you can prepare it beforehand, or if you want to avoid the exciting ones try an herbal tea, for example an infusion of mint, put it in a jug with a few slices of lemon or lime, add the juice of half a lemon and a tablespoon of honey or sugar. Also perfect for children.
2) You feel sluggish and not very energetic:sometimes we resort to these drinks or because we feel a drop in sugar or because on the contrary we want it, and the zero-calorie carbonated drink in this case keeps us away from eating junk. In the first case, instead of coke always and in any case, we can try a very banal orange juice: not only is it good, but it is often sweet without the addition of additional sugars. In the second case, pineapple and grapefruit juice are also often sold without sugar. The extra idea? Order a tonic water and a pineapple or orange juice and mix them: you get two glasses of healthier but sparkling orange soda for the same price as two colas. 3) Pushes you to conviviality or supports you in a moment of relaxation:
– if we are at home, a sangria: sparkling red wine and orange juice without sugar, more spices to taste.
– if we are at home, the frizzina or hydrolithine: alone in water or with lemon slices, if not abused it is perfect.
– if we are out: a glass of wine or a small beer, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, or a juice.
4) It is good and calorie free, perfect for the diet:the calorie restriction of diets often leads to some abuse to overcome them unscathed; for example light foods and drinks, which however cause overweight due to sweeteners and damage the bacterial flora. Yes, even if they have no calories. Much better this sassy water for those on a diet.
