Irritable bowel syndrome: all the advice from the experts

We have read everything about irritable bowel syndrome and its opposite: I personally suffered from it for about ten years in a very serious way, and I have enclosed my advice in this article  . We also know that there is a dietary protocol developed in Australia, the FODMAP protocol , which manages to give good results. But today we see instead the recommendations against irritable bowel syndrome drawn up by  NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) which have collected all the scientific evidence on nutrition against irritable bowel.

IRRITABLE COLON SYNDROME: DIETARY ADVICE

1) Eat meals at regular times, and remember to take your time and chew well
2) Do not let too many hours pass between meals
3) Drink about two liters of water a day in the form of herbal teas without sugar and plain water
4 ) Restrict tea and coffee to a maximum of three cups per day
5) Reduce the consumption of alcohol and carbonated drinks
6) Limit the consumption of whole or too fibrous foods
7) Limit the consumption of resistant starch (underripe bananas, new potatoes, starch in pre- packaged foods)
8) Limit the consumption of fruit to three portions of 80 grams each, which must be peeled and in some cases cooked
9) In the case of diarrhea, avoid sorbitol, a sweetener often present in light sweets and gums (and all polyols )
10) If you have bloating, try eating some porridge in the morning or oats in general and eating flax seeds

Finally, evaluate the use of probiotics, such as lactic ferments, together with your doctor, for a period of not less than 4 weeks.
