Ideal weight, how to keep it in the fall
In general many of us tend to lose weight in the summer and gain some in the winter. However, this variation, if not kept under control, causes weight gain which becomes more difficult to manage year after year.
But why do people get fat from autumn onwards?
Typical winter holidays are just one of the causes that take us away from our ideal weight.
Other factors that make it difficult for us to stay in the ideal weight are the less physical activity, the reduced exposure to the sun’s rays and the lowering of vitamin D, the choices at the table that in the winter months make our metabolism lethargic.

In summer, however, going to the beach, going out more often, eating more fresh and seasonal fruit and vegetables, abandoning baked desserts and hearty dishes are all things that instead promote weight loss.
So how do you make sure that your ideal weight stays stable even in autumn and winter?
Here are some tips.
IDEAL WEIGHT, HOW TO KEEP IT IN FALL AND WINTER
-
Avoid fruit and vegetable supplements.
Supplements are often an excuse to eat poorly. If you want to take advantage of autumn and winter to lose weight and purify yourself, focus on green leafy vegetables and citrus fruits, reserving in the morning the sugary and seasonal fruits such as persimmons and bananas, to be consumed instead of snacks and biscuits.
For breakfast we can opt for a slice of light banana bread or a yogurt paired with a chocolate and persimmon pudding . Or for a slice of light apple pie . Mid-morning for a freshly squeezed orange juice or pomegranate juice. For lunch and dinner, on the other hand, we can eat a plate of leafy vegetables such as spinach, escarole, chard, sautéed in a pan with a little butter or olive oil and spices. -
Yes to potatoes and other tubers as a meal replacement for complex carbohydrates and not in place of the vegetable side dish.
Potatoes, Jerusalem artichokes, celeriac, beets are our allies from autumn onwards to replace pasta and bread. A baked potato with light spreadable cheese or a healthy, low-calorie beetroot soup replace the first course, effortlessly reducing calories. Instead, never eat these tubers after a first course.
-
Do not use dressing gowns, heavy sweaters or stuffy clothing at home.
Use a little cold to activate thermogenesis.
-
Train to improve muscle mass.
Muscle mass is essential for maintaining healthy metabolism up to the age of 60. Most people I know prefer crash diets rather than training to lose weight. The result is that, without training, over the years it gains weight and reduces its metabolism. If you want to train at home try these quick and easy training plans: 1 , 2 , 3 .

Fish is also good in winter.
Eat it at least two or three times a week. Grilled, roasted, stewed.
-
Don’t stuff yourself with soups and herbal teas in an attempt to lose weight.
You only accumulate fluids that cause electrolyte decompensation, swelling and stress, worsening the water retention that already occurs with the cold.
-
Harness the power of spices and antioxidant foods.
Yes to cinnamon, ginger, cumin and cardamom, paprika and chilli. And yes, in moderation, with red wine, bitter cocoa and dark chocolate.
-
Make yourself a good broth at least once a week.
Take bones from the butcher’s or fish bones (and heads) from the fishmonger and cook them in water acidulated with lemon juice for at least three hours over low heat, with spices to taste, onion, garlic, a ripe tomato, celery and carrots. It’s a great way to counter bloating, improve digestion, take in collagen, and keep your metabolism healthy. Don’t have time or desire? Today on Amazon you can find broths to add water to keep in the pantry. They are made from the bones of grazing animals and enhanced with natural spices and flavors.
A jar contains three weekly portions of broth that we can drink before lunch or dinner or add to our vegetables to create soups, for example with pumpkin or mushrooms. The result will be purer skin, reduction of stress, better digestion, a more restful sleep, an increase in the immune system and a reduction of joint pains that are felt with the first colds.
