How to use WhatsApp on 2 phones at the same time
The world of instant messaging is constantly changing. Its use is more and more frequent, to the point that having only one mobile phone (or a single SIM card) may not be enough. In fact, more and more often there are those who decide to equip themselves with a dual-SIM mobile phone or two mobile phones to be used on different occasions. One can be used to communicate with one’s wife, another for work (or, in some cases, for the lover). Or the two phones need one for the children (who must always be able to contact you) and one for all the other people. In short, the reasons may be different, but a phone may no longer be enough. And here comes the WhatsApp problem. What to do? Do I have to create two different accounts, one for each telephone number? In this article we see how this is possible. The technique is within everyone’s reach, use the same WhatsApp account on 2 different phones , without having to create two different profiles.
In this post we analyze this technique in detail. This is a quick and easy process and can be applied to all phone models that support WhatsApp (Android, Apple iPhone, Windows Phone, etc.).
A quick note before driving: this technique, in addition to allowing you to connect a second mobile phone with the same WhatsApp, can also be used on tablets .
Same WhatsApp on two phones with WhatsApp Web: guide
When signing up for WhatsApp, the normal process is to provide a mobile number which must then be verified to ensure that this particular number is not already associated with another phone at the time of registration. This is the standard procedure , which prevents you from being able to use the same whatsApp account on two different phones (or, better, that have different SIMs. The situation changes if you “move” the phone card).
Officially there is no way to overcome this limit, but there is a simple trick that allows us to do it. Nothing impossible, let alone use a WhatsApp account on two different mobile devices. This is possible thanks to the new service put in place by the application called WhatsApp Web . Using this service, you can run Whatsapp on two devices. The only requirement is that both must be connected to the Internet and that, at least on one of the two, the WHhatsApp application is already present.
But let’s take action.
How to install a WhatsApp account on two different phones?
The first step is to make sure you have two mobile phones with stable internet connection and WhatsApp installed on one of the mobile devices.
At this point, proceed as follows:
- Verify that you have WhatsApp updated to the latest version available.
- On the second phone, start the phone’s web browser (Chrome, Firefox or Safari) and connect to the website.whatsapp.com . (on iPad, long click on the site url in the top bar).
- From your browser options or settings, go ahead and select the “desktop site”.
- If the desktop version has been activated successfully, you will notice a QR code clearly visible on the page.
- On the first phone, go to Settings and go to WhatsApp Web (this step will activate the QR code scanner).
- Then place the camera of the first phone on that QR code that appears in the screen of the second and it will automatically start scanning the code on the web browser. It won’t take long.
- After the scan is complete, the account of the first phone is automatically activated on the second as well.
That’s all! Now, if all the steps have been done correctly, you have the same active WhatsApp account on both phones.
ps The same procedure can be done using a tablet (iPad or other) instead of the second phone. This way you can have the same WhatsApp account on your phone and tablet.
To disconnect , simply go back to WhatsApp Web using the first phone, click on Settings (the three dots at the top in the contacts column) and then on Disconnect . This way you will return to using WhatsApp only on one device.
Warning : this technique only works with two WhatsApp phones, the one on which the application is installed and a second to add. If you try to connect to a third mobile device, the service will ask you to log out before proceeding.
