How to save WhatsApp chats on Google Drive with Android
All users who use WhatsApp on Android have a convenient function available that allows you to backup WhatsApp chats directly on the Google cloud.
How to activate WhatsApp backup on Google Drive:
-  download the latest version of WhatsApp for Android.
- go to Settings
- Click on  Chat Settings and then on Chat backup .
- At this point, if the procedure has been followed correctly, the Google Drive option will appear and once the chat backup is activated, the possibility of saving directly to Google Drive will become active.
What is Google Drive?
Google Drive is a service that offers cloud storage and online data backup. In other words, it is a virtual memory that saves our files directly on the Internet. You can save various file formats, including photos, videos and articles, and now also WhatsApp conversations. Google Drive provides unlimited space to save WhatsApp backups, thanks to an agreement between Google and WhatsApp on November 12, 2018.
Why use Google Drive with WhatsApp?
The first reason to use the new integrated WhatsApp-Drive service is the possibility to decrease the amount of memory used on the phone. As the months go by, in fact, data accumulates in the phone and the memory has its limits.
Furthermore, this is an optimized alternative to the classic backup on the phone. If this breaks, in fact, goodbye data. By saving them on the cloud (i.e. the online memory space offered by Drive) it is possible to restore the backup copy from any other mobile phone.
Backing up WhatsApp to Google Drive also introduces another advantage . On Android devices, Whatsapp messages are automatically saved in the phone’s memory, on a daily basis. But when we delete the application, we also delete the backups. As you may have already understood, the Drive option eliminates this inconvenience.
An alternative to backup on WhatsApp
What if I don’t want to use backup? There is an alternative for saving conversations: emailing them . In fact, WhatsApp allows chats directly by e-mail. To do this, click on the name of the contact or group after opening the conversation, and select the item “Send by email” at the bottom. At this point, choose whether to attach the media and send to the desired email. In a few moments you will receive everything on the selected mailbox.
If you use WhatsApp on iPhone instead …
you can backup photos using iCloud. The process is quite simple.
Go to Settings> Chats & Calls> Chat Backup and connect to your iCloud account. At this point you can choose how often to backup (daily, weekly or monthly) and if you want to backup videos as well. Â
