How to save images and videos from WhatsApp on your mobile
Have you received any photos or videos on WhatsApp and want to save a copy? Well, now I’ll tell you how. It’s very simple, you just have to decide if you want to save the images and videos directly on your mobile and follow the instructions you find on this page.
A brief premise: if you go to the WhatsApp settings, you can activate the automatic saving of multimedia files (photos and videos) . But be careful, in this way a copy of all the files will be saved! And we don’t always want this to happen. For this, in this guide we see how to do it in a non-automatic way. So you can choose what to save and what not.
Second premise: Even if you do not save the images on your mobile, with an application to spy on WhatsApp it is always possible to see them. So… eyes open!
Save images and videos to your mobile
 IPhone
Before you can manually save photos or videos, you need to make sure WhatsApp has access to your phone’s camera roll. To do this:
- Open your iPhone Settings
- Scroll down and click on Privacy
- Click on Photos
- Click on WhatsApp
- Select the item Read and Write
From now on you can save images and videos by following these steps:
- Open WhatsApp on the chat that contains the image or video you want
- Tap this image or video
- When it opens, click the Share icon
- Then click Save
These are all the steps to save images and videos from WhatsApp to your iPhone.
NB If you have not allowed WhatsApp to access your camera roll, your iPhone will ask you to give it access when you choose to save the content on your phone.
 Android
Here are the steps:
- Open WhatsApp
- Open the chat with the content you want to download to your phone
- Tap the download / save button on the bottom left and the content will automatically be added to your phone’s gallery.
This process may be slightly different depending on the brand of Android phone and the operating system you are using.
If you do n’t see your photos in your main gallery , you can find them in a folder created in your files. It should be something like: WhatsApp / Media / WhatsApp Pictures. You may need a file manager to access the content.
You can also access this folder to delete its contents and free up space on your device . Deleting will remove both files from both the gallery and the phone storage.
NB If you use an app to clean internal memory and space on your phone, please note that this folder may be automatically deleted to save and free up space. Make sure you backup your WhatsApp images to avoid losing them.
