How to replace the sugar in coffee?

What can I say, we are truly a people fond of the cup ritual if more than one person has asked me how to replace the sugar in coffee, in order not to have health and line problems. The answer is very simple, the explanation less so this time I answer first and then explain.
You can’t replace the sugar in coffee with something healthier. Either drink the bitter coffee or add less sugar.

But how, you will tell me, and the glycemic index? Let’s start with the glycemic index of sugar, which as you know is high.
The sugar that you can put in a coffee is at most that contained in a sachet, ranging from 8 to 12 grams, so let’s put 10.
The glycemic load of 10 grams of sugar is medium-high, equal to 67 (sucrose). Already an average apple (150 g) exceeds this value, and an average 200 g of fruit, which can fit in an afternoon snack, exceeds this net value.
So, if we want to replace the sugar in coffee because we are scared by its glycemic index, by going to see the glycemic load we would realize that they are even. Clear: honey and fructose have lower glycemic indexes, but the taste may not appeal to everyone.
Among these three sugars, honey is the only natural and therefore healthier alternative, but it is always sugar . The body reacts to sugar in the same way according to a recent study: whether it is cane or honey or white or fructose, sugar in excessive doses always hurts.
But, what if it’s not so much a question of health as of weight loss?
Personally, I do not advise you to delete all forms of sugar from your life, because a sugar-free diet in the long run stresses and negatively affects the metabolism. Of course, not all sugars are the same, and if I want to lose weight, maybe it’s better to eat a banana or a ripe fruit and do without sugar in coffee instead.
But what if we wanted to replace the sugar in coffee with a sweetener?
Are you one of those who drink zero coke? Well, stop it, and if you really like coke, switch to the traditional one.
In fact, contrary to popular belief, the sweet taste of the zero calorie sweetener causes an insulin response : whether it is stevia or aspartame in the end it really doesn’t matter, if it tastes terrible in coffee and in addition it makes you fat anyway, calories or not calories.
So how to replace the sugar in coffee? Don’t replace it. Either of the two, either learn to drink bitter coffee, and if you are diabetic it is your only healthy alternative, or use sugar, and maybe use only a little.
If you love sugar in coffee, why give it up altogether, when you can easily get used to half a sachet, or 4.5 grams of sugar? Low glycemic load, less than twenty calories. And the fear passes.
