How to make a probiotic drink from Greek yogurt

Are you a lover of Greek yogurt? So I’ll teach you a little trick to use your passion for Greek yogurt to get a probiotic drink that is a real fermented milk with fruit. It’s very simple. What you need is an airtight container . Every time you buy Greek yogurt, you will see that a small water is created on the bottom: you usually throw it away, I guess.
Instead that aquetta is whey, rich in enzymes and proteins with a high biological value as well as mineral salts and useful enzymes.

You got it right: throwing that water away is not only a drama but a real waste of money. Just think that in some countries, such as Austria or the United States, whey can be found in supermarkets.

What I advise you to do here instead is to take an airtight container and save that aquetta, or the serum. Do it 3 times in a row: that is, every time you open the yogurt package, put the water aside, adding it to the previous one. In this way you will obtain the main ingredient for a probiotic drink based on lactofermentation: a natural fermented milk with fruit.

Clearly, this is an ideal trick for anyone who eats a lot of Greek yogurt, for example one pack per day. After three days, she has enough whey to make this probiotic drink that’s packed with enzymes, cultures and proteins, which can be used as a cure-all for our intestinal flora and be drunk in the doses of a glass before breakfast for a week or two.
Here is the recipe for fermented milk:

Lactofermented drink with whey
Half a cup of whey (about 150 ml)
Berries or citrus fruits of your choice about 500 gr (preferably low-sugar fruit) or alternatively 500 ml of organic apple juice (the one without fruit puree)
500 ml of plain water
two tablespoons of honey or agave syrup
cinnamon or ginger powder or cardamom

Procedure: blend the fruit (or add the liquids) with the whey, honey and spices. Extend with water and pour the fermented milk obtained into a two-liter glass bottle with closure or other container with a cap, which is very clean and dry. Close and keep at room temperature and in the dark to rest for 48-72 hours.
Open the container, after the first 48 hours, wait about ten minutes, close and let it rest for another day.
After 72 hours, strain the liquid and put it in a clean bottle. It can be kept in the fridge for weeks. Drink a glass a day before breakfast!
