As mentioned earlier, the melee pits in Horizon Forbidden West are, as you can guess from the name, perfect arenas to test the player’s skills. Their primary purpose is to give you rewards at the end of the challenge, so as to obtain tasty advantages , but we would not be surprised if some players used them to practice with Aloy’s weapons and, above all, the hand-to-hand combat system. .
The rewards can be of various kinds, but they guarantee advantages that we are sure will make you quite comfortable, especially in the advanced parts of the adventure .
Melee pits are a total of 5 spread across different regions, each pit has between 3-5 challenges and the last one is always to defeat a certain boss. No pit is really missing, you can go back even at the end of the adventure. Each challenge is timed, setting the lowest difficulty will help you complete them without too many problems.
To unlock the melee pits you will need to have unlocked the combos from the skill tree, it is a fundamental step to continue.
Pit 1: Aspracatena
- Challenge 1:Â unlock the ability to break blocks and destroy all those present.
- Challenge 2: Hit the enemy until the spear turns blue, then go heavy attack to energize the enemy. Then attack with the bow aiming at the charged point to make a nice explosion.
- Challenge 3:Â Defeat the boss.
Pit 2: Throwing Thrower
- Challenge 1:Â Hit the parts highlighted in blue with the heavy attack and then with the bow.
- Challenge 2:Â Hit all blue targets with the bow.
- Challenge 3:Â Defeat the boss.
Pit 3: The Bastion
- Challenge 1: dodge an attack and immediately perform a combo, then aim the bow and shoot the enemy. You don’t have to shoot in mid-air, it’s okay even if you find it on the ground.
- Challenge 2:Â Perform a light attack and jump over the enemy, make a heavy attack while crashing on the second enemy.
- Challenge 3:Â perform a combo with final heavy attack and then shoot the enemy with the bow.
- Challenge 4:Â Defeat two enemies as you like.
Pit 4: Neraspina
- Challenge 1:Â hit with heavy attack and then a light combo, finished with bow strike.
- Challenge 2: two light attacks, pause, and two more light attacks. Then, as usual, hit with the bow.
- Challenge 3:Â three light hits, waiting and then heavy hit.
- Challenge 4:Â make a heavy attack and after the pause perform a combo.
- Challenge 5:Â Defeat the boss
Pit 5: The Flood
After defeating all 4 bosses, the last one will automatically appear, showing up in the northern area of ​​the map, near Thrower. Look for a tent with black smoke coming from it, there you will find the last pit. In this case the challenge is just to defeat the boss in any way.
