In the last few days, 117 new emojis have been announced that will add to the already vast catalog of apps such as Whatsapp, Telegram, TikTok and many others. Within this update, there will be 62 completely new images and 55 variations of color and skin tones . There will also be new animals – including some extinct – and some new transgender symbols. The only additions to the “emoticons” concern two smileys: the first smiling with a tear and the second masquerading.

In the video at the head of the article you can see most of the emojis that will be implemented with their variants; depending on the platform and the device used, the appearance may, as it already happens now, vary slightly. The Unicode consortium also worked extensively on gender equality, implementing several alternative figures such as a nursing father, a man with a headscarf and a logo depicting the trasgender symbol. New animals, both extinct and not, will also be added, such as the seal, the polar bear, the mammoth, and numerous insects. This new “package” is completed by the addition of new culinary elements, human organs and numerous utensils and tools.
