Herbal teas for weight loss and slimming teas, pros and cons

Bootea detox, Fitline herbal tea, Slimtea , Skinny Detox and other slimming teas or herbal teas for weight loss: do they work? Do they work even without a diet? Do they increase metabolism? And in general how much should we expect from herbal teas for weight loss, slimming and fat burning teas and similar products?
This is what The Inquirer magazine is asking , analyzing the ingredients of some of the products mentioned and wondering not only if they are effective, but also if they are healthy. The so-called ” teatoxes”i.e. teas that are advertised for their fat-burning and detoxifying effects are not actually simple teas, but often feature a combination of ingredients. Sometimes they contain a type of tea to which extracts of mint, lemon, red fruits, etc. are added. Stronger mixes also have a combination of multiple teas (e.g. oolong + green tea) to maximize results.

Yes, but do they work? While there is research on certain types of tea with health benefits and weight loss adjuvants (such as oolong tea), not only can we not rely too much on this research to determine if the product we have purchased will actually be effective, but overall, the companies that produce these products prefer to focus on testimonials (famous people, but also simple bloggers), paying them in the best of cases or offering their products, rather than underlining a scientific validity.
Because often this validity does not exist. Even if you come up with study x, it is still small sample studies, where researchers have used specific extracts for a limited time. That is why we cannot be sure of their effectiveness.

At the same time, we can use them without exaggerating as adjuvants to weight loss: therefore we need to go on a diet and exercise, and we can use these products or others made by us or purchased in herbal medicine to have a greater intake of antioxidants.
Pay attention to products with a draining effect:often purchased in order to lose fluids and thus fight body stagnation, the products with a draining effect must always be supplemented with mineral salts, in order to avoid an imbalance of minerals that would worsen our situation, causing us a first loss of liquids which then occur edema, swelling, retention as a physiological reaction of the body to electrolyte decompensation. Also beware of thermogenics: if the product contains too much theine, combined with other exciting substances such as guarana and caffeine, the side effects could be numerous. From nausea to vomiting to fibrillation.
In short: evaluate the products on a case-by-case basis, and if you buy them, use them sparingly at first. Remembering that it will be the diet as a whole and not the cup of herbal tea that will do 69.9% of the work. And the activity 30%.
