Heart problems? Do not drink zero coke
Heart problems? I am not speaking to lovers, but to those with cardiovascular health problems. Well, heart sufferers should not drink coke, and above all they should not drink more than an average 330ml can. These are the conclusions of a group of researchers who, after the article published on the effects of Coca cola zero (or light) by the pharmacist-blogger The Renegade Pharmacist ( here his article) , published the results of a study twelve years on the effects that drinking Coke zero would have on health. And they warn: drinking two cans of Coke zero would increase the risk of cardiovascular health per day, and in particular it would increase the risk of getting a heart attack by 25%.
The research was conducted by the celebrated Karolinska Institute , in Sweden, and would have involved over 40,000 males for 12 years.
Result? Confirming the thesis that soft drinks are linked to high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular problems, the researchers specified that Coke zero and other soft drinks with sweeteners would increase the risk of heart attack in quantities greater than two glasses a day.
The British Soft Drink Association allegedly criticized the results of the study: in reality, the researchers did not make any differences in the collection of data between the consumption of zero Coca cola and that of normal Coca cola, for which or in general these drinks increased the risk of heart attack, or a crusade against Coke zero in particular would not be justifiable. At the same time, experts have failed to figure out which ingredient would increase the risk of heart attack, if it is not the type of sweetener, merely observing the collected data.
Limits or not, you will admit that two cans of Coke zero or two large glasses are not an exaggerated consumption, and since the sample examined by the researchers is vast, those who already have heart problems are invited to be extremely careful not only in the consumption of Coca cola, but of all the so-called “soft drinks”.
