Harmless protein supplements: food gelatin
You want a TRUE secret to lose weight, increase metabolism and have the right amount of protein (in this case animals): it is very simple, highly digestible and with highly assimilable proteins by the body. Edible gelatin: whether it is isinglass or, like the one I use, in cubes or granules, edible gelatin is composed of eighty / ninety percent proteins. Which are those of the bones of animals and connective tissues, therefore with a high content of collagen. This is why it is important not to buy jelly on the internet or at a low price, but to rely on well-known brands . It is excellent and low-calorie.
I discovered this secret from a very good American blogger and very attentive to healthy cooking: obviously, we are talking about products of animal origin, but a portion of jelly is less harmful than a steak . It is highly digestible, and allows us to have ten grams of protein per twelve grams of serving, the equivalent of half a liter of gelatin, an excellent starter for a carbohydrate lunch for those who tend to “eat their fill”. Ten grams of protein with only one hundred calories, one hundred and fifty if we personalize our jelly with pickles, mixed vegetables, pieces of boiled chicken or salmon (30 grams) or two tablespoons of boiled legumes or an egg. The proteins contained in gelatin are long-digested and lacking in some essential amino acids: for this reason they work as a protein supplement only if we take other sources of noble proteins during the day, for example milk, meat or fish. In fact, gelatine is deficient in tryptophan, while it has a high quantity of glycine.
We can create an aspic that allows us to fill up to satiety, have more collagen for skin and joint health and to promote the development of muscle mass: all with a digestible dish with few calories. I make my mother use, who has to fight osteoarthritis: gelatin, which in pharmacies is also sold as a supplement (but costs much much more), is perfect for those suffering from arthrosis and joint pain. At home I always have two or three packs, always trying to choose Italian or certified quality products.
How and where can we find it?
If we don’t find it in granules, let’s try to buy isinglass and make more sweet jellies, with unsweetened apple juice and pieces of fruit. It is a healthy, low-calorie and above all digestible dessert.
Otherwise, buy jellied meat and jellied chicken : it costs a little more, but with a salad or some vegetables it’s a really dietary dish. Last but not least: make a meat broth, with bones and marrow, to drink even every day.
Again, you can look for granular gelatin in supermarkets, which is sold in cans, bags or cubes. Unfortunately not all supermarkets have it, but I assure you that it is worth looking for or otherwise buying it online.
