Graham Raw Food Diet or 80:10:10 Diet

Graham Raw Food Diet or 80:10:10 Diet

The Graham Diet is a vegan diet that excludes processed and cooked foods. Foods can be eaten at a temperature not exceeding 40 ° as in other raw food diets.

Also known as the 80:10:10 diet, the Graham Diet is a diet that we could call fruitarian .

HOW THE GRAHAM DIET IS BORN

There are actually two Graham diets.

The diet explained in this article is the diet of Dr. Douglas Graham, author of the book ” The 80 10 10 Diet “. The title refers to the daily breakdown of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. That is, 80% carbohydrates, ten percent protein and ten percent fat are consumed.
From this point of view, that is, from the point of view of macros, it is similar to the Hokinawa diet .

As anticipated, there is another Graham diet, the one created by the inventor of Graham crackers. This latter diet is also high in carbohydrates, basically vegetarian: but it is not raw food and focuses on fiber.

The Graham raw food diet allows you to lose fat and stay in shape by following the rule of eating 80% carbohydrates, 10% of proteins and 10% of lipids. You will say: but how is it possible to eat so many carbohydrates?  Simple, with fruit.

Generally the Graham raw food diet does not involve the consumption of meat or animal derivatives. So it’s a vegan diet.

Those who follow the raw food diet claim that cooking food causes an impoverishment in terms of nutrition, and that the microorganisms of the raw food activate the immune defenses. There is also a variety called “Raw till 4” (raw food up to four o’clock), which is often the most popular type.

Always on a vegan basis, it involves the consumption of raw foods until four in the afternoon.
Later you can also eat cooked foods, such as rice or corn pasta.

DIET MENU.

The Graham Diet is not a low-calorie diet, but a norm-calorie or even high-calorie diet. This is because in order to reach the minimum protein quota, one is forced to eat a lot of fruit of the highest protein type, such as bananas.

Weight loss is a consequence of the diet’s cleansing and anti-inflammatory process, according to Dr. Graham, but not of calorie reduction. A typical menu can range from 1800 to over 2500/3000 calories per day.
Dr. Graham gave an example of a menu in a famous video.

Breakfast: we skip.
Lunch: bananas in the desired quantity (about 18), lettuce.
Snack: one kg of grapes.
Dinner: cold tomato cream.

Total calories: about 3000.
