Foods that make you fat before bed
I admit one of my weaknesses: I eat a snack an hour or two before going to bed, but I know that what we eat at a certain time of the day, for example before going to sleep, could make me fat or cause me swelling.
The ideal, if you want to indulge in the sin of gluttony, is to avoid these foods that make you fat before going to bed, so that the snack does not become a problem not only for our waistline, but also for the quality of the food. our sleep.
Taking a cue from an article that appeared in the Huffington Post that I agree with , let’s see what are the foods that make us fat before bed. And what are the alternatives that will make us wake up with a smile.
FOODS THAT MAKE YOU FAT BEFORE SLEEP
- Ice cream: ice cream is a caloric and sugary food with which it is difficult to satiate and which is easy to overdo. The alternative? A skimmed white Greek yogurt with a teaspoon of honey or cottage cheese. Fewer calories, balanced in proteins, like all milk-based foods it stimulates a restful sleep. Honey then reduces stress without raising blood sugar too much.
- The glass of wine: no alcohol is drunk before going to bed. It causes water retention, which turns into swelling for the next day (and a little more weight related to water that we believe): in addition, alcohol induces sleep but also awakening at night. The alternative is a glass of oat milk or sugar-free cranberry or red fruit juice, which are great for inducing sleep.
- Dark chocolate: it is clearly an exciting, not very suitable for promoting a night’s sleep. In people with already disturbed sleep it acts like a coffee.
- Spicy food : If you have a late dinner, avoid spicy food, which causes bloating during the night and induces dehydration. The alternative is a food with chopped herbs and various smells instead of spices.
- Biscuits, snacks, sweet snacks.Â
They are sweet, yes, but also with added salt and fat. It is easy to eat too many when we are relaxed, less inclined to control food and calories. If we really are for the sweet before going to sleep, better then a wholemeal toast with a teaspoon of ricotta and one of jam. - Salty foods (peanuts, chips).
See point five. Plus they have a lot of salt, which is a problem at night, because with rest, salivation is reduced. You exceed with calories, wake up with swollen eyes or wake up in the middle of the night with the desire to drink. Better to munch on 5 or 6 almonds. They are dried fruit which, when shelled, is not treated with added salts.
