Does bread make you fat?

Does bread make you fat?

Does bread make you fat? Many people ask this question, but the answer is no: bread does not make you fat in itself, in fact, but depending on how we combine it with other foods and also depending on the type of bread we consume.
Let’s start by saying that it is not that bread makes you fat on its own, but the habit of accompanying it to ” make the shoe ” on the plate where the pasta sauce remained or add it to a small protein second after lunch (a piece of cheese, a slice of ham) is a very bad habit.

In fact, bread is perfect if we use it as the only source of complex carbohydrates in our meal, and NOT associating it with pasta, rice or potatoes or other baked goods or cereals. If we ate one of these things, we cannot add bread to our meal as well. The reason is simple: bread generally has a high glycemic index, so it aggravates the overall glycemic load of the meal, i.e. its carbohydrate load which rapidly raises the blood sugar after a meal, and therefore insulin. The following combinations:
pasta + bread
rice + bread
pizza + bread
cereals + bread
potatoes + bread
are all “fattening “, especially if we are not sports people.

Bread, in any case in limited portions (never more than 100 grams), can be eaten as an accompaniment to proteins (meat, fish, legumes, cold cuts, cheeses), or vegetables. So a sandwich is less fattening than a plate of pasta to which we follow the scarpetta or bread and ham, and less fattening than a terrible combination of fashion, pizza with fries on top (considering the pizza similar to bread).
Just talking about its glycemic index, let’s see which type of bread is healthier for health.
