Diet Gum, does weight loss gum work?
Today I am talking about a new product that has arrived on the market: it is called Diet Gum and it is a chewing gum that should make you lose weight thanks to the extracts of Garcinia Cambogia and Guarana. We know Guarana to be a nerve stimulant, being rich in caffeine, while Garcinia in theory should have a fat-burning action: I say in theory because it has long been known thanks to accurate meta-analyzes ( like this one) that Garcinia has shown minimal or zero results on human samples, after experiments on laboratory rats had instead shown some results. Hence, the big downsizing that Garcinia has had over the years as a weight loss supplement.Â
So a slimming gum that combines the effect of an ineffective weight loss supplement with guarana , which stimulates thermogenesis as caffeine or other stimulants would, cannot have the thunderous effects on weight loss that you read on the official website. , of tens of kilos lost in a few weeks, at least if we approach it from a scientific point of view. That chewing gum can help weight loss is also recognized, but it does not do so for particular active ingredients but because it induces a sense of satiety through chewing.Â
For a purely mechanical reason, let’s put it that way.
Another thing that leaves me skeptical is that in foreign advertisements, the same product has a combination of other substances (just as ineffective for weight loss, such as green coffee: see here ) including acai berries, while on the Italian site the sponsored and declared substances are only two, as per the official website: here, this thing is not very clear (maybe the other substances have removed them?), but it prompts me to advise you to be cautious. This is because many supplements that contain mixes of natural substances can cause adverse liver reactions .
So in my opinion the product, which should not be harmful in itself, does not work miracles: one because there is no scientific evidence to support the idea that its excipients make you lose weight;Â two because at the moment there is no supplement that alone makes you lose weight, I mean without a dietary and training approach.
