Diet for slimming cholesterol

Diet for slimming cholesterol

Considered the second best diet in the United States according to US News, the TLC diet is not a weight loss diet full stop, but a cholesterol diet that is suitable for those who want to lower their cholesterol and lose weight at the same time. Let’s see how to do it and why it works.

TLC DIET: DIET FOR CHOLESTEROL WITH SLIMMING ACTION

The TLC diet  was born specifically as a cholesterol diet, thanks to a program of the National Institutes of Health.

It is a diet designed to reduce cholesterol in patients. TLC is in fact the acronym for Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes.
The goal is to lower blood cholesterol levels and reduce cardiovascular risk.

The classic version provides a normocaloric regime that is around 2500 calories for men and 1800 calories for women and of which only one fifth is represented by fats (and the share of saturated ones is around 7%).

However, there is also a slimming version of TLC. That is, a cholesterol diet that is also useful for shedding extra pounds, with a regime ranging from 1600 calories for men to 1200 calories for women, to make you lose 5 kg per month and lower your cholesterol more.

TLC DIET: CHARACTERISTICS

This diet aims to provide less than 200 mg of cholesterol per day.
With seven percent saturated fat on 25 percent total fat, 50/60 percent carbohydrate and the rest protein.

For carbohydrates, consumption focuses on fruit, vegetables, pasta, bread, legumes and cereals, with a preference for wholemeal choices. Tlc is also based on a large consumption of fibers. A separate discussion is made on salt, which must be limited in favor of herbs and spices that flavor foods. Alcohol is not totally banned, but very discouraged.

The TLC cholesterol diet is suitable for those who need to reduce fat and improve their health.
Let’s see how it works on page two.
