Counting calories? That might not be a good idea

I started counting calories at nine.
At the time the internet was there but it was not within everyone’s reach. While today we have apps and sites that have a database of foods with calories, I had a list of foods with calories from the doctor.
Since then, I’ve known all the calories in foods, roughly.
This thing has forever marked my life.

Counting calories may not be a good idea.
It is not necessary for weight loss.
And in this article I’ll explain why.

WHY COUNTING CALORIES IS NOT ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA

  • Our body does not think in terms of calories, but of food nutrients and of course, energy .

On the one hand, if you count calories, you know how much energy your body will have available, how much fuel you give it. Everyone knows that to lose weight you need to introduce less energy than you spend.

  • You don’t really know how much energy you spend each day.

There are formulas that, taking into account your weight, height, gender and daily activity level (LAF), should determine how much energy in terms of calories you need to stay normal weight. Too bad they are formulas based on a statistical average. And you are not a formula. Some of the formulas you find on the net have old coefficients for the level of daily activity (1.2 for those who are sedentary). So even if you use them they will always give you a number probably lower than the calories you actually need to live healthily.

  • The only way to know exactly how many calories you burn each day is to take a vacation in a metabolic chamber .

A room connected to machinery where doctors tell you when to sleep, when to train and when to eat, and then record your breath, analyze your urine and heart rate. There are only about thirty metabolic chambers in the world. Most people who enter a metabolic chamber tell the same thing . He eats less than doctors say he should eat, yet he doesn’t lose weight.
Why don’t they lose weight if they eat less?
You have a metabolism whereby if you eat less, your body will try to save energy. But it’s not just a momentary matter, I mean that once you’ve cut down on calories, your body will become more and more efficient over the years at saving energy.
