Coca cola for weight loss?
What do you think of this initiative?
The Coca-Cola company has decided to fund a non-profit organization to help Westerners lose weight effectively.
He would have allocated $ 5 million to help the  Global Energy Balance Network  develop and disseminate guidelines to combat obesity.Â
A gimmick that will cause much discussion, given that the Coca Cola product together with many other carbonated drinks is accused of making people fat and sick with metabolic syndrome , both in its traditional and sweetened version.
From the Thirties or Forties, more or less well-known companies have started sponsoring scientific studies.
The worst damage in this sense was done by those companies that acted in the shadows.
For example, bottled mineral waters had a say in studies highlighting the importance for people to drink more water. Did you know?
Let’s say that when you read the results of a study on nutrition, you have to go and see who financed it. You would make interesting discoveries.
But let’s see some of these guidelines, or those that the newspapers have leaked in these days.
COCA COLA TO LOSE WEIGHT?
Well, the news is that there are actually NO dietary guidelines.
According to The Global Energy Balance Network, which has released videos in which a spokesperson explains the various why and how, it is not our diet that makes us obese.
It’s just the lack of physical activity. The message is: do more sports, move more.
The fact that people are said to eat too much is perhaps related to the fact that they do not burn enough calories.
Okay, what about junk food? We don’t talk about it.
The questions I ask myself are two.
The first: how useful is it to say just this in summary without asking people to review their diet?
The second: Did Coca Cola really spend $ 5 million to fund this research?
