Chocolate protein smoothie: super easy recipe
A chocolate protein smoothie without protein powder , also suitable for those who are vegetarians (not vegans), those who are allergic to lactose or casein (whey protein isolate contains less than 1% lactose, but if you are intolerant is best avoided, even worse if you are allergic to milk proteins), or to those who want to avoid spending money on protein powders.
In fact, this chocolate protein smoothie does not contain dairy products or products obtained from milk processing. It is low calorie and really cheap. All you need are egg whites, which you can buy in liter or half-liter packs in many supermarkets. Or you can use leftover egg whites from recipes that only include egg yolks (creams, shortcrust pastry, etc.). The calories are 190, with 19 grams of protein, making this chocolate protein smoothie a perfect meal replacement for anyone looking to lose weight.
CHOCOLATE PROTEIN SMOOTHIE
Truvia or other sweetener of your choice
150 gr of egg white + half a glass of water
60 ml of water
10 gr of bitter cocoa
a pinch of ginger or cinnamon powder or both
40 ml of Rapunzel or Aroy-type coconut milk- D (or alternatively 85 grams of banana)
First, prepare the egg whites: mix them with the water and cook them in a saucepan over very low heat, stirring often, until you get a white cream. There may be some filaments, but don’t worry. Let the mixture cool completely and then keep it in the fridge for half an hour / forty minutes. After this time, remove it from the fridge and pour the clotted egg whites cream into a blender along with the cocoa, coconut milk or banana, water, sweetener and spices. You can add 2-3 ice cubes or use a previously frozen chopped banana if you are using banana instead of coconut milk: this will allow you to have a more fluffy and inviting chocolate protein smoothie. You can also customize it with fresh mint leaves.
