Children on a diet, advice from a Danish doctor
A Danish pediatrician has developed some dietary rules to save children from obesity , which is becoming a scourge even in Northern Europe, where they have much better dietary rules than ours, while in Italy we are already on the alert for childhood obesity : a child in four is overweight, one in ten is obese if we consider the age group from six to ten years. Forty percent of mothers with overweight or obese children do not think their children need to lose weight or revise their eating plan. This is how we are placed by us. Here’s what this doctor advises, Jens Christian Holm , who according to an article published in Wired , with his rules would have already made you lose weightseventy percent of the nearly two thousand little patients with extra pounds. I avoid outlining all the rules, some not very feasible according to our diet. Others, however, perfect for understanding what and how much we are doing wrong as parents: 1) Breakfast:NO to snacks, biscuits, sugary cereals, fruit yogurt, packaged cakes, flavored milk, bars and snacks. They are full of sugar. Sugar is a poison, the reputable prof. Berrino. It causes hyperactivity and listlessness, as well as obesity. Foods yes: wholemeal bread (the black one, type of rye), porridge, a protein resource. The doctor says meat or fish, I would say: soy or oat milk or low-fat yogurt with oatmeal and chopped fruit, wholemeal bread with a little peanut butter or sugar-free jam, orange juice without sugar 2) Lunch:Wholemeal bread, vegetables, meat or fish. Instead of wholemeal bread, wholemeal rice or pasta. These are the quantities: only a quarter of the dish must be bread, pasta or rice (or cereals or potatoes). Half the dish must be made up of vegetables (no, the sauce is not a vegetable) and another quarter of lean meat or fish or an alternative protein resource (tofu, egg whites omelette). Does the child eat outside the home and do you make him a snack? If he is in the canteen, you will instruct someone to arrange the dish for him. If you make him a snack: salmon and vegetables in two slices of wholemeal bread, or even vegetable croquettes and a little potato or cereals (such as millet, brown rice and oats) baked in the oven and a little turkey breast, an omelette of vegetables with one yolk and two egg whites and tomato salad with a spoonful of wholemeal pasta. Indulge yourself in making attractive meals for a child. 3) A snack and mid-morning: yes to fruit, but in two daily portions. 4) We eat sitting at the table , not in the room or on the sofa. Also for snacks and snacks. 5) Sweets?Yes, once a week the dessert that the child prefers (preferably homemade). Fast food once a month. Fruit juices or drinks once a week. 6) The encore? Yes, as long as you do it twenty minutes after your first meal. Do you think the rules are wrong or too strict? If a child has no weight problems, this scheme can be completed with a slice of homemade cake, as long as it is very low in sugar. But I don’t think the rules are too bad for a child who must necessarily lose weight. In his spare time, the doctor tells the child to enroll the child in any sporting activity, encourage him to walk and go outside, so as to be active at least two hours a day. Tv or internet or video games only two hours a day after 5pm. You always go to bed at the same time.
